The first competition day of the FIS Junior and U23 World Ski Championships belonged to the Junior Distance skiers. With a 15km respectively 30km Mass Start in free technique, the long courses around Lygna Skisenter (NOR) were tested.

Germany took the top spot in the first race of the Women’s category. Helen Hoffman got some crucial space between herself and the competitors in the last hill before the finish and won the race 2,6 seconds ahead of the Swedish Lisa Eriksson.

The host country got the bronze medal with Tuva Anine Brusveen-Jensen, who finished 8,2 seconds behind Hoffmann.

The Norwegian Tuva Anine Brusveen-Jensen was also very happy.

– I’m really proud of this performance, and it’s one of the best races I’ve done. It means a lot to get a World Championship medal, she says.
