Ziga Jelar wins in Rena

The exact same three ski jumpers made it to the podium on day 2 of the Continental Cup in Rena (NOR) than on the first competition of the weekend on Saturday, just the top two came in in a different order. On Sunday, the win went to Ziga Jelar.
The Slovene won the competition on the HS 139 hill with jumps of 137.5 m and 139 m and a total of 297.1 points. With this performance, the 24-year-old could prolong his success streak of the last couple of weeks, he was on the podium five times in the last seven competitions and won two of them.
The winner of Saturday’s competition, local hero Fredrik Villumstad, finished second today with 137 m and 140.5 m and a score of 289.2 points.
Austria’s Michael Hayboeck repeated his third place from yesterday with 137 m and 138 m and 286.8 points. The veteran once again lead a very strong Austrian team, the five-time World Cup winner was followed by Philipp Aschenwald, Ulrich Wohlgenannt, Clemens Aigner, and Thomas Lackner on the place four to seven.
Like on Saturday, the best German jumper in this competition was once again Andreas Wellinger. After finishing eleventh yesterday, he tied for seventh with Thomas Lackner today. The Top 10 were completed by Slovenia’s Domen Prevc and Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng of Norway.
In the overall ranking of the Continental Cup, Ulrich Wohlgenannt would extend his lead with the fifth place today. With 798 points he is now 60 points ahead of Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng, Thomas Lackner remains in third with 594 points.
The Continental Cup continues next weekend with two competitions in Planica (SLO).
