Monday Mix – June 7, 2021

A week into June and it feels like the stream of content coming through the line is flowing harder than a glacial river in the spring melt. Between high-alpine spring camps, throwbacks to midseason, Southern Hemisphere resort openings, and summer shenanigans, there was no shortage of fun to dig into this week.
First up though is some big news on our side, as for the first time in 23 years, FIS has elected a new President. Johan Eliasch was elected in a first-round majority at last week’s 52nd FIS Congress online and will take over from outgoing President Gian Franco Kasper, and we’re excited to see what the future holds under Mr. Eliasch’s leadership.
Now onto the Mix, where the human highlight reel Nicolas Huber donned his signature spacesuit and set his coordinates for a rocket ride to the sun. Unfortunately there seemed to be a little problem at lift-off, and he had to settle for an early splash-landing in the lake and some polite applause from the audience…
