Stifel US Ski Team’s River Radamus, the 11th highest-ranked men’s GS skier globally, spearheads an incredible opportunity for developing athletes. He’s excited to unveil the first ARCO ski camp, set to span five days in Copper Mountain Resort this May, which will be free of charge to participants. The genesis of this idea traces back to discussions last summer during the ARCO foundation announcement.

This camp, slated for May 18-22, offers five days of on-snow training with nine intensive sessions. Athletes will be provided lodging, meals, and lift tickets at no cost. The camp caters to a maximum of 15 athletes, focusing on those transitioning to the U16 category next season and residing within driving distance of Copper.

Eligibility criteria

River Radamus envisions a valuable experience for the fortunate 15 athletes joining the inaugural ARCO ski camp. The selection process prioritizes those poised to enter the U16 category and conveniently located within driving distance of Copper Mountain.

While priority leans toward U16-bound athletes within proximity to Copper, the camp also considers 2nd-year U14, 1st-year FIS competitors, and participants located from farther distances, albeit with lower acceptance probabilities.

He emphasizes the significance of leveraging local resources, urging a reduced dependence on European training ventures, particularly for athletes at this developmental stage. His optimism extends beyond this initial camp, envisioning future opportunities in the East and West. Radamus sees immense potential in decentralizing training hubs, allowing young talents to flourish in familiar environments, ultimately strengthening the sport’s foundation across diverse geographies.

The coaching lineup promises an exceptional experience. It features River Radamus, his Stifel US Ski Teammates veteran Storm Klomhaus, and World Cup Slalom racer Jett Seymour. However, other notable coaches have yet to be finalized.

The camp welcomes support from a consortium of sponsors, including Copper Mountain Resort, Rossignol, Level, Gloves, and other generous sponsors and benefactors.

Radamus enthusiastically invites SkiRacing to share this groundbreaking opportunity, ensuring aspiring athletes across the spectrum seize this chance for growth and development in the sport they love.
