Six Daily Exercises To Get Ready For Ski Season

With the turn of the seasons and the promise of winter comes an annual realization experienced by many skiers, “Shoot. I completely forgot to get in shape for ski season.”

If, like me, you wish you did a little more training and a little less mindsurfing in preparation for winter, you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s a six-step workout regime from Alecia at WILDR Fitness that should get your blood pumping and your legs prepped for those first tentative laps.

I’ve gotta say, videos like these are a great resource, as personal trainers aren’t cheap. Focusing on a set of skiing-focused exercises developed by someone who understands how the body responds to exercise is probably the best way to actually get ready for skiing. And with spots like YouTube on the internet, doing so is free.

I’ve never worked any weight lifting or power exercises into my pre-skiing regimen. However, I’m sure I’d benefit from checking out the workouts Alecia’s touting here.

In my entirely uneducated opinion, my personal take on pre-ski-season training (unless you’re rehabbing a specific injury) is just to keep moving. As long as you’re running, biking, hiking, climbing, or otherwise getting after it in your summer outdoor sport of choice, you probably won’t be hurting too much come winter.

That said, specific training like the workouts detailed by Alecia in this video will only make you feel better on the hill.
