Rettenegger, Oestvold and Oftebro win in Rena (NOR)

The men’s Continental Cup was held from February 17th to 19th, 2023 in Rena (NOR).
Three competitions were on the program with the premiere of the Super Sprint as well as a Normal Hill and Large Hill Individual Gundersen.
On Friday, the Norwegian Jakob Eiksund Saethre was in the lead in the Super Sprint with a time of 11:32.0 min, ahead of teammate Einar Luraas Oftebro (11:40.0 min) and Thomas Rettenegger (11:52.0 min) from Austria.
Due to difficult weather conditions, the Ski Jumping part had to be postponed to Saturday.
There, Rettenegger secured the victory with a jump on 104 meters ahead of Sebastian Oestvold (106.5 m) and Saethre (103 m) from Norway.
In the subsequent Individual on the HS109, Sebastian Oestvold was in the lead with 101.5 meters after Ski Jumping.
Second place went to Germany’s Terence Weber (102 m), who started the 10 km race 18 seconds later, while Christian Deuschl (101.5 m) of Austria was third, 31 seconds behind.
Oestvold managed a start-finish victory, while Weber and Manuel Einkemmer delivered an exciting finish sprint, which the German (+27.4 sec) narrowly won, defending his second place. The Austrian (+27.8 sec) placed third.
On Sunday the competition took place on the large hill HS 139.
With 124 meters, Thomas Rettenegger went into the subsequent 10km race as the leader with a 32-second lead.
Second place after Ski Jumping went to Christian Deuschl (118.5 m), ahead of Terence Weber (121.5 m).
With a strong cross-country performance, Einar Luraas Oftebro worked his way up from 10th place after Ski Jumping to the very front.
The Norwegian delivered an exciting sprint on the home stretch against Weber and Rettenegger, who were only defeated by a hair’s breadth.
While Oftebro celebrated the second COC victory of his career, Weber (+0.9 sec) and Rettenegger (+1.4 sec) took second and third place.
