Mammoth Mountain, California, Starts Weekend With Over Two Feet Of Fresh

Yesterday afternoon, Mammoth Mountain, California, shared on Instagram that it had received over two feet of fresh snow during a storm cycle that passed through California this week.
Alongside the good news, Mammoth posted a video depicting a tantalizing sight: its summit sign was almost completely buried.
Yesterday’s stormy conditions prevented Mammoth from opening several upper mountain lifts, including Chairs 13, 14, and 23, and the Upper Panorama Gondola.
Today should bring more terrain options at the resort. Yesterday, on Instagram, Mammoth noted that it plans to open the upper mountain today thanks to improved weather conditions. The forecast agrees—NOAA calls for sunny and relatively mild temperatures.
The first half of Mammoth’s season this winter proved challenging, with less snowfall than hoped. November and December saw 26 inches of snow in total. However, the latter half has treated the resort well.
In February, Mammoth saw 133 inches of snow. March backed that up with 95 inches. And April, so far, is off to a strong start.
Mammoth aims to remain open through at least Memorial Day.
