Sunday, March 24th, the men’s World Cup season began with a mid-race cancellation in Sölden, Austria, and ended with a cancellation of the Saalbach, Austria, finals downhill. The Saalbach team was able to provide good racing for the seven prior races, but today, Mother Nature provided too big of a challenge.

With no final downhill race, Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt has clinched his fourth globe of the season. It is notably his career’s first downhill globe (season title). For the 2024 season, Marco the Magnificent earns the giant slalom, super-G, downhill, and overall globes.

Additionally, he once again has been a significant point contributor to the fifth consecutive Swiss men’s Nations Cup title and the second successive overall, including both genders. It is also worth noting that this season, the Swiss won seven of the ten globes awarded, including the men’s and women’s overall titles.

Despite the cancellation of today’s final downhill race, Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt has successfully secured his fourth globe of the season, including his first-ever downhill globe. With today’s race called off due to adverse weather conditions, Odermatt did not have to defend his lead, solidifying his impressive performances throughout the season. As the World Cup season ends, Odermatt and his fellow competitors know they must begin preparing for the next season, aiming for continued success and anticipating new challenges.
