Julian Schmid is the winner of the Individual Gundersen competition in Oberstdorf (GER), defending his lead in the Overall Summer Grand Prix standings.

Franz-Josef Rehrl took the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the Schattenbergschanze HS137 in Oberstdorf (GER) tonight.

In sunny conditions, the Austrian reached the furthest distance of the day with 133 meters and collected a total of 148.9 points. Therefore, he started first into the 10 km roller ski night race through Oberstdorf’s city center.

Rank 2 after jumping went to PCR winner Julian Schmid from Germany, who reached 131.5 meters (144.4 pts) and went into the course 18 seconds after Rehrl.
Austrian Christian Deuschl (127.5 mts, 139.6 pts) placed third, 37 seconds behind the leader.

The furthest distance of the day was reached by Laurent Mühlethaler from France with 136 meters (+41 sec), placing fourth in the end, losing some points due to the better wind conditions during his jump.

In an exciting roller ski race, Rehrl was unable to defend his lead for long and was caught up by Eero Hirvonen and Julian Schmid halfway through the race.
The Austrian fell back while Hirvonen and local hero Schmid fought an exciting duel in front of thousands of spectators.

In the end, the German narrowly prevailed and secured the home victory, ahead of the strong Finn (+3.3 sec) and Rehrl (+28.4 sec).
