Skiers Sneak In One Last Hectic Run Despite Lack Of Snow

When the summer heat’s beating down, and the North American ski content train isn’t going anywhere fast, we sometimes need to dive into the archives here at Powder.
Enter this classic video featuring Brooks Curran and Chad Allen, shot at Mad River Glen, Vermont, a few years back. It’s muddy survival skiing at its finest.
There are loads of mud and grass skiing videos floating around the internet. Some are good; some are excellent, but few scratch the itch like this one.
Sure, Brooks and Chad found a little snow, but they spent most of this run either riding mud or splashing around in a creek. And they were skiing fast! That’s no small feat.
Plus, under this video, in the Facebook comments section, there was a remark that got a chuckle out of me:
“For sale: barely used Nordica skis only used on one time $700.”
The comment’s funny on its own but takes on a new level of humor when considering the fact that it’s barely satire. At this very moment, in a North American ski town, someone’s trying to pass off a pair of skis as “lightly used” that aren’t, in fact, “lightly used.”
The video you just watched wasn’t Brooks’ last mud-skiing rodeo. On May 4th, last spring, he shared an Instagram video of him skiing a narrow ribbon of white out East. It’s a similarly entertaining watch and further cements Brooks as someone who thrives in questionable snow conditions.
