Ski and Snowboard Club Vail reports excellent training conditions at Ushuaia’s Cerro Castor ski area. Ushuaia is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world. The Vail team was among the first groups to arrive this season at the favorite training site of many of the best skiers in the world. Only 2,432 miles north of the South Pole in early August, the sun rises at 9:15 am and sets at 6:00 pm. Training in winter light and on challenging winter snow best prepares racers for competition in the Northern Hemisphere.
In Ushuaia, the southernmost city in Argentina, ski racers actively train in ideal surroundings. The picturesque landscapes of the Andes Mountains and the Beagle Channel serve as exceptional training grounds. They hone their ski racing skills by exploiting the pristine snow-covered terrain. Ushuaia’s unique location offers an unparalleled experience for ski race preparation.
