The state of Vermont is still reeling after a freak storm dumped as much as 8 inches of rain in the early-morning hours of Monday, July 10th.
The town of Ludlow, and nearby Okemo Mountain Resort, were among the areas hit hardest by the torrential rains and subsequent flooding.
Okemo will remain closed until next week. Okemo General Manager Bruce Schmidt has released the following video to update the public on the status of the resort:
Following an initial overview of the storm's aftermath, Okemo received some bumps and bruises, but nothing that cannot be fixed. The team has been swift in our clean up and we are hopeful that we will be able to reopen most of our summer operations as early as late next week. pic.twitter.com/xTnKkdlJGC

Schmidt didn’t get into what was specifically damaged, but it sounds like the resort skirted any major damage or destruction. That’s shocking considering the photos and videos that have been circulating on the internet this week.

Okemo plans to reopen for summer operations, conditions and weather permitting, on Thursday, July 20th.
In the meantime, the Coleman Brook Tavern will remain open daily for dinner and breakfast to serve the community as they rebuild.
We will continue to cover this developing story as more details are released. Our thoughts are with the good people of Vermont during this trying time.
