It’s another family affair! Brought to you by the New Zealand duo Beau-James and Wacko Wells, Bracket Creep is a 10-minute masterpiece filmed in their homeland. FREESKIER sat down with Beau-James to get the inside scoop on the new flick.

What was the most enjoyable part of making this mini-movie?

For me, the process of getting the clip has always been the most enjoyable. From building the feature, testing it out, potentially getting into a battle with your trick, and then you land it, it’s a great feeling. It’s the same when someone in the crew gets a clip too, knowing you helped shovel or film. It’s a team effort.

The other part I enjoy most is when you have a creative breakthrough in the editing process. It’s hard to come up with ideas and a vision, so when that happens, it’s pretty nice.

The guest list for Bracket Creep is stacked. How’d you rally the gang together for the project?

Wacko and I are super thankful to the riders that wanted to be in Bracket Creep. Without them, it wouldn’t be what it is. Ferdi was in New Zealand for the whole season, and we share a similar vision when it comes to skiing and filming. So, we were hyped to link up and work together.

Same for everyone else, it was nice having lots of riders in New Zealand last year once the borders opened. I am honoured to be able to film with them.

Loving that the title pays homage to New Zealand. Walk us through how you landed on Bracket Creep.

I first heard the term from reading finance and accounting books and really liked it. Given the current economic climate, I thought it was relevant.

There’s no doubt that this film has us itching to get back out on snow. What are your plans for the season?

Our season in New Zealand is just about to start. Wacko and I are going to be filming all around the South Island, skiing on mountains we haven’t been to yet. Really excited for that, and hoping we have a great snow year.

Bracket Creep packs a lot of punch in just 10 minutes. How did you choose the specific moments to include?

We had to cut a lot of clips out, which is unfortunate. However, I really like a 10-minute running time, and we prefer quality over quantity.

What’s next for you?

We have a new project with a great crew coming out very soon from our time in Innsbruck, Austria. Stay tuned.
