Women’s 2023/24 Alpine FIS World Cup calendar

The FIS has approved and published the women’s 2023/24 Audi FIS Alpine World Cup calendar.

As always, the new calendar provides both winners and losers.

Killington will host the US Stifel women’s World Cup races

Once again, the highly acclaimed Stifel Killington World Cup is back on the November schedule. It has become one of the most successful events on the calendar. The Killington slalom and giant slalom races are also recognized for their massive live attendance.

Croatia is the 2024 calendar loser

Unfortunately for Croatia, the 2023/24 women’s calendar does not include a Zagreb slalom. This undoubtedly upsets the Croatian Ski Association. Zagreb had become a staple on the annual calendar and had provided needed revenue for the Croatian Alpine program. It will be difficult to replace the losses they experience by not hosting a race.

Canada to host Mont Tremblant tech events

However, the women’s calendar has added two giant slaloms at Mount Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. The Alterra resort looks forward to hosting the new event. It has invested heavily in a state-of-the-art snowmaking system and made hill improvements to maximize the potential for fantastic racing. The race replaces the long-time tour favorite and financially challenged Lake Louise speed series. However, the Tremblant race will fit well with the tech races in Killington, Vermont, the prior week. It also saves the travel costs of having the European speed discipline women flying across the Atlantic.

Jasna’s success will continue

The women will return to Jasna, Slovakia, home of superstar Petra Vlhová, which is also one of the best-attended World Cups on the circuit.

Return to Andorra

After successfully hosting the 2023 World Cup finals, the women will return to Soldeu Andorra for mid-February giant slalom and slalom races.

Switzerland and Italy each host mutiple speed series

With the addition of the Italian-shared Zermatt/Cervinia race, Switzerland will host three women’s speed series this year. Italy will join them with three, including the shared Zermatt/Cervinia and the return to the super-G venue in Val di Fassa.

Returning to Scandinavia

After their successful 2023 experience in Kvitfjell, The women will return to Norway for their final regular season speed events. The women who don’t ski the technical disciplines will have nearly three weeks after Kvitfjell before the finals in Austria. However, following the races in Norway, the women who race the tech events will drive over the border into Sweden to complete the regular season with a slalom and giant slalom in Åre.

Saalbach will cap off the season

The 2024 World Cup finals will be hosted at the exceptional venue in Saalbach, Austria.
