The biggest event of the 2022/23 FIS World Cup season – and the biggest sporting event in Georgia’s history as a nation – is upon us, as from 16 February to 5 March we’ll be on site in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains for the Bakuriani 2023 FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships.
After a fragmented 2021 World Championships season where moguls and aerials, ski and snowboard cross, alpine snowboard and snowboard park & pipe/freeski all ended up in different venues due to covid-19 restrictions in China (where the 2021 World Championships were originially scheduled to be held at Zhangjiakou), for 2023 all the Freestyle, Snowboard and Freeski events are back together at at one locale. With a fresh organiser in place and a deeply committed team who have for the last five years been putting together all the pieces for a World Championships to remember.
The Bakuriani 2023 World Championships will be split between two main venues located just 15 minutes apart, with the slopestyle, big air, halfpipe, parallel and cross competitions stadiums situated at Didveli resort, while moguls and aerials will be contested just down the valley at the Kokhta ski area.
