The History Of Vermont’s Lost Ski Areas

One of the most fascinating parts of Vermont’s skiing history is what places have been lost along the way. ABC Local 22 / Local 44 anchor Mike Hoey and Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins traveled to the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Museum in Stowe to learn more about the lost ski areas in Vermont. While there, they spoke with Brian Linder, who is a part of Mt. Mansfield’s Ski Patrol.
They discuss what some of the abandoned ski areas are, including one visible on I-89, and two of them that are hidden in the middle of college campuses. The video also shows off a map of the lost ski areas, which was made by Jeremy Davis of the New England Lost Ski Areas Project (NELSAP).
