Spring also means selection time and time to structure the following season. Therefore, it means composing the teams, with new or old coaches at the head, athletes who move up the ladder because they have proven themselves worthy of the first teams and athletes who remain with their previous teams and relegate.
Two of the most successful federations were the first to announce their choices.
The Swiss Ski Team had a very successful winter becoming the number one ski nation in Alpine skiing at the World Cup, European Cup, World Championship and Junior World Championship levels. The success has spread from the elite to the junior level and is also reflected in the selections. Never before have so many athletes been selected for a Swiss-Ski frame.
No fewer than 108 athletes, both men and women, were accepted into one of the Alpine frames, eight more than in the previous season. The national team now has 14 members.
A total of 44 male and female athletes have moved up one or two frame levels in the selections for the coming season (20 women and 24 men).
Here are the selections.
