With eight single races and one team event in the books, it’s now time for our top athletes to get in the start gate for two last times to not only fight for the last podium spots, but more important for the crystal globes. Besides the overall top three women and men, the Rockies of the year and the best nation of this season will be awarded after the final race on Sunday.

The FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup comes to an end from 24 – 26 March 2023 at one of our new stops on the tour in Mount Sainte Anne, Canada. The ski resort called Mount Sainte Anne is located in east Canada in the town Beaupré only 40km away from Quebec.

The 1 km long and technically advanced course with more than twenty different elements goes directly through the Canadian woods. From most parts of the course you have an amazing view over the landscape of Beaupré with it’s many lakes.

Bankes and Trespeuch fighting for the globe
Currently Charlotte Bankes (GBR) is leading the overall ranking with 578 points. Great Britain’s world champion from 2019 also won the world championships title in the team event this season in Bakuriani, Georgia. Also, Bankes didn’t had the best start into the season, with five world cup victories in the last six races she is currently the most consistent racer and it pretty much looks like she can defend the overall title from last year.

In second position with only 68 points behind the Great Britain we can find Chloe Trespeuch (FRA) with 510 points. With a second place in the first world cup and a win in the second one Trespeuch already started good into the season. She continued with two second, two third and one fourth place. The only race where she didn’t made it into the big final, was at the world championships where she got fifth. Beijing 2022 vice Olympic champion Trespeuch already got second in the overall ranking last season.

The battle for the third overall position is still ongoing as the third and the fifth ranked athlete are only separated by 66 points. In third position, with 353 points we can find 20-year-old Josie Baff (AUS) who stood on top of the podium for the first time in her career this season. Besides that, she stood on the podium twice.

In fourth position it’s no one else than current world champion Eva Adamczykova (CZE) with 312 points. Adamczykova made it to the big final this world cup season four times but made it on the podium only twice.

With 287 points French Petit Lenoir Manon can still make it in third position if she will be the only one of these three on the podium in the next two races. Petit Lenoir got second in Cervinia (ITA) and third in the last race in Sierra Nevada (ESP).

Hard battle on men’s side
On men’s side of things, we will see one of the most exciting battles for the crystal globe we’ve ever seen in snowboard cross history. The first five athletes are separated by only 100 points. After seven races where the athletes had the possibility to collect 700 points the current world cup leader Martin Noerl (GER) only has 374 points.

Noerl who already won the crystal globe last season only stood on top of the podium twice this season and got second and third in Cervinia (ITA). Besides that, he can call himself new vice world champion.

In second position with 335 points, it’s Omar Visitin. The Italian didn’t stand on top of the podium once this season, but got second twice and made it to the small final four times.

Only 9 points behind the Italian we can find world champion from 2021 Lucas Eguibar (ESP) in third position. Eguibar’s best results were a win and a second place on home soil beginning of March. Other then that, he has two fourth places on his list.

Rank number four goes to Loan Bozzolo (FRA). The French rider earned most of his 310 points with his win in Cervinia (ITA), a second and a third place in Sierra Nevada (ESP) and his fifth place in Les Deux Alpes (FRA).

102 points behind Noerl, in terms of figures also Merlin Surget (FRA) can still make it on the podium for the overall ranking. Current world champion Jacob Dusek (AUT) which is currently in ninth position with a total of 214 points still has a chance to step on the podium if he makes it on the podium twice this week.

Next days will be super exciting so don’t forget to tune in and see the battle for the crystal globe and the medals on Saturday and Sunday!
