In honor of the holiday this week, we’d like to pause for a moment and give thanks to Ullr, La Nina, and Mother Nature for providing us skiers and snowboarders with some early openings and great start-of-season conditions across most of ski country to kick off the 2022/23 season. We’re also thankful for all of our 120+ resort partners across the globe and all of you who work with us at Ski.com to help make your ski dreams come true – cheers to the winter and more snow in the forecast!

Colorado’s Snow Forecast:

According to OpenSnow, Wednesday is looking like when Colorado’s dry spell will be breaking. Their forecast shows snow moving from north to south across the state on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Projected totals should be around 1-5” for multiple mountains, with the snow stopping Thursday morning. Skiers who make it To The Mountains on Thanksgiving or this afternoon are likely to enjoy some softer turns thanks to the new snow.

We’re Also Thankful For…

Here at Ski.com, we love celebrating getting out to the mountains, fresh snow and sharing our favorite pastime with all of you. This week, we’re especially grateful for the last big wave of resorts to open. While many will be celebrating with friends and family this week, we’re stoked to think they may bring part of their celebrations To The Mountains as well.

Are Ski Resorts Busy on Thanksgiving?

While many may be making a point to get their first turns of the season on Thanksgiving Day, our recommendation is to get to your local mountain early. First chair or not, you can hopefully dodge some longer lift lines and still make it back to help prep dinner with the fam later in the day.

Can you ski over Thanksgiving in Colorado?

Yes! By now and the end of this week, most Colorado ski resorts will be open. Although many may have limited terrain, you’ll still be able to get some turns in and practice gratitude for both snow and one of the best winter activities around.

If you make it out this week, be sure to tag us on Facebook or Instagram with #ToTheMountains for a chance to be featured in an upcoming Friday Freshies post. Wishing those who celebrate a happy Thanksgiving and to everyone else a happy long weekend full of snow and fresh tracks.
