Eva Pinkelnig is the overall winner of the 2nd New Year’s Eve tournament. With her third victory of the day in the fourth competition, the Austrian crowned herself as the best jumper of the tour. 93.5 and 89.5 meters gave her 253.4 points and her seventh World Cup victory. Second was the winner of the previous day, Anna Odine Stroem from Norway, with 91.5 and 88 meters and 250.4 points. Selina Freitag landed in third place on the podium for the first time in the World Cup with two times 88.5 meters and 246 points.

Canadian Alexandria Loutitt achived her best career result today – 4th place. Teammate Abigail Strate, who also has two fourth places, also jumped into the top ten in eighth place. Nika Kriznar and Ema Klinec finished on positions five and ninth and were the best Slovenian jumpers during Sunday’s competition.

The competition was overshadowed by a serious fall by Ursa Bogataj. The Slovenian jumped 89.5 meters in the first round and fell so badly on the exit that she could not get up. First, she was transported on a stretcher and taken to a hospital in Ljubljana with a suspected injury in her left knee, according to the Slovenian broadcaster RTV Slovenija. Already in the qualification, the Polish Nicole Konderla decided not to start because, according to her own statement, she suffers from recurring pain in her right lower leg.

Lara Malsiner from Italy was third after the first round, but was not able to keep the position after worse jump in the second part but still it was her best result of the season. Anna Rupprecht was able to prove her currently good form again in seventh place. Sara Takanashi was once again best Japanese and finished tenth. Katharina Althaus finished 14th and Luisa Görlich took 22nd place. Other Austrians also earned points: Marita Kramer (16th), Chiara Kreuzer (17th) and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (23rd).

The small Swiss team had reason to be happy, because both Sina Arnet (27th) and Emely Torazza jumped into the top 30 for the first time. For Torazza, the two World Cup points for 29th place were the first in her career. Daniela Haralambie was able to reach the second round as Lucky Loser and she finished the competition on 20th place. Ajda Kosnjek (37th) and Nika Krasovic (41st) made their best World Cup results.

Podium of Silvester Tournament 2022/2023: 1. Eva Pinkelnig 1030.3 ponits, 2. Anna Odine Stroem 1004.0 points and 3. Nika Kriznar 980.3 points.
