The Four Hills tournament never disappoints, and this year’s 71st edition will be hard to beat in terms of excitement. Let’s recap quickly before we are heading into the grand finale at the last out of the four stages in Bischofshofen.
Halvor Egner Granerud won the first two competitions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf. Granerud won on the HS 142 metres hill in Partenkirchen with the highest score in both rounds against Anze Lanisek (SLO) and Dawid Kubacki (POL).
“That was really a great competition today. Anze, Dawid and I jumped at a very high level. The competition today showed how great ski jumping is. My jump in the final was extremely good from my point of view, I still have to listen to the coaches’ feedback, but I think it was really good. At the moment it’s just going well for me”, said the ski jumper of the moment after the second stage.
But it wouldn’t be the Four Hills if everything didn’t come to a head until the very last jump on the last of the four hills in Bischofshofen. The strong Polish jumpers are still in the mix. Dawid Kubacki won not only the qualification round in Innsbruck yesterday ahead of his countryman Kamil Stoch. But he also won today’s competition on the Bergisel Jump in Innsbruck
After three out of four competitions Granerud leads the overall tour ranking 23 points ahead of Dawid Kubacki and 31 points ahead of Anze Lanisek.
The 71st Four-Hills-Tournament continues tomorrow with training and qualification, followed by the fourth and last competition on Friday in Bischofshofen (AUT).
