The next stop of the Continental Cup this summer was Stams in Austria, where both competitions scheduled for this weekend were held on Saturday, due to the bad weather forecast for Sunday.

In the first competition on the HS 115 hill, the Austrian hosts secured a 1-2 finish. Michael Hayboeck claimed his 13th win in the Continental Cup with his jumps of 113.5 m and 117 m and a score of 263.5 points.
His teammate Philipp Aschenwald finished second with 115 m and 116 m and a total of 254.8 points.

The third place in Saturday’s first competition went to Germany’s Philipp Raimund who jumped on 108 m and 115 m for 251.7 points.

Former world record holder Anders Fannemel of Norway came in fourth, narrowly ahead of the Slovenian up-and-comer of last winter, Lovro Kos. The best of the Polish team was Aleksander Zniszczol in sixth.

After only a short break, it was already time for the second competition of the day. This time Aleksander Zniszczol of Poland could claim the victory. The 28-year-old scored 258.5 points with jumps of 112 m and 120.5 m. It was his tenth win in a Continental Cup.

Local hero Michael Hayboeck showed yet another strong performance and finished second with 111 m and 109 m and 253.7 points. Only 1.2 points behind the Austrian, Anders Fannemel, who was in the lead after the first round, made it to the podium in third with 116.5 m and 110 m.

Behind  Lovro Kos in fourth, Finland’s Niko Kytosaho came in fifth, a career-best for him. Philipp Aschenwald and Philipp Raimund ended the day in Stams in sixth and seventh.

Norway’s Sondre Ringen remains in the lead of the overall ranking of the COC with 234 points. Anders Fannemel (196 points) is now third, followed by Michael Hayboeck (180 points) in third.

The Continental Cup continues next weekend with two competitions in Klingenthal.
