Although COVID travel restrictions are no longer an issue, it is always challenging to site NorAm events. Therefore, the ski racing community anticipates the committee’s annual schedule announcement.

Lake Louise to host World Cup but not NorAm speed events

Unfortunately, Lake Louise, historically North America’s most prolific speed venue, will not be hosting its traditional December NorAm Downhill and Super-G series. That said, the ski racing community will forever be grateful to Lake Louise for its decades of contribution to North American speed development.

Colorado steps forward to host December speed and tech

This season, Copper Mountain Resort and the US Ski Team are partnering to host the December speed series. Each gender will be offered two Downhills and two Super-Gs from December 5th through the 10th.

After a long absence from the schedule, another exciting aspect of the December NorAm Cup schedule is the return of Beaver Creek. December 12th through the 15th, the men will have a chance to race two Slaloms and two Giant Slaloms at the Birds of Prey World Cup venue.

Series resumes in Vermont after Christmas break

In January, both the men and women resume competition in Vermont. The women will race tech events in Stratton and the men will race at Burke Mountain. However, both genders will conclude their 2022-23 US NorAm racing with a Super-G day in Burke before the programs move north to Canada for the rest of the season.

NorAm Cup returns to Canada

Thankfully, with COVID travel restrictions lifting, NorAms are returning to eastern Canada after a two-year absence. While the women will compete in three GSs and three SLs spread between Camp Fortune, Mont Ste-Marie and Osler Bluff, the men will compete in Mont Ste-Marie, Camp Fortune and Tremblant.

Although it is yet to be confirmed it appears in March, for the finals, the series moves across the continent to Whistler, British Columbia. The men and women will be together in BC for two DHs, two SGs, a GS, and a SL.

The 2022-23 NorAm Cup series will offer eight Giant Slaloms, eight Slaloms, six Super-Gs and four Downhill opportunities for each gender.

As is always the case, schedules are subject to change.
