Madona World Cup and Junior World Championships

From 25th to 28th August, the third stage of the FIS Rollerski World Cup and the Junior World Championship took place in Madona, Latvia. Thursday, 25th August started out with an interval race in Classic technique.
Athletes from 12 countries were signed up and competed for the titles.

Thursday, 25th August – Ind. C
The first title was taken by Estonian Gerda Kivil, who claimed the victory on the 7.5km course by the tight margin of 0.1 second to second placed Anna Maria Ghiddi from Italy. But also the host country recorded a first podium spot with Samanta Krampe, who finished in third position.
In the senior category – and thus the World Cup ranking, the siblings Kaidy and Keidy Kaasiku ensured Estonia more podium celebrations of the day with racing onto the 1st and 2nd place along 10km. Elisa Sordello from Italy concludes the podium.
The men’s juniors first race followed along the 10km course track and Anton Grahn from Sweden managed to hit the fastest time, before his team colleague Malte Jutterdal. Aksel Artusi from Italy took the remaining spot on the podium.
In the World Cup ranking, Norwegian Amund Korsæth claimed the victory and defends his lead in the FIS Rollerski World Cup ranking. His biggest contender, Matteo Tanel from Italy came as close as 5.6 seconds to Korsæth’s time, but had to take step on the second podium spot, before his Italian team colleague Tommaso Dellagiacoma.
