Michael Matt has announced that he is joining the Völkl team after seven years with Rossignol.
Matt has had quite a career over the better part of the past decade, and this year, he qualified for the Austrian Olympic team and competed in Beijing, China.
Matt has earned two Olympic medals in PyeongChang and two World Championship medals in Are Sweden; in addition, Matt has one World Cup victory, which he won in the Kranjska Gora slalom in 2017. He has also stood on the World Cup podium six other times.
Recently Matt has, however, experienced multiple near misses finishing barely off the podium several times. Most recently he had a fourth-place finish in the 2022 Kitzbuehel slalom.
In a recent Instagram post, Matt wrote, “I’m excited to announce my new partnership with @voelklskis. Already looking forward to the upcoming season. Testing went well, can‘t wait to work with the new team.”
Shortly before posting the joining the Völkl team announcement, he posted a tribute to Rossignol appreciating the time they worked together.
He wrote, “My time with @rossignolracing has come to an end. I want to thank the whole Rossignol Team for an amazing 7 years. A successful 7 years at that, bringing home Olympic medals, two world championship medals, as well as several WC podiums. 7 years I definitely won’t forget.”
