The city of Lahti bidding to host the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 2029

The city of Lahti, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the owners of Salppuri Oy have conducted negotiations about the totality with relevant partner organizations.
The city of Lahti and the Ministry of Education and Culture together with the owners confirmed a positive stand on the bid to host and thus made the bid official during the event of the FIS Congress on 25-26th May 2022, almost a year in advance. Salppuri Oy’s owners, the Finnish Ski Association and Lahti Ski Club, will act as the executors of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2029, and are excited about the shared vision and intent.
After the joint announcement the application period continues until the 1st of May 2023, while we will together start the preparations on the way towards the 2029 event.
