Overview

Cardigan Mountain School is a junior boarding and day school for boys in grades six through nine, located in Canaan, New Hampshire. The Position

Cardigan Mountain School seeks an experienced and committed coach and educator to coach the U16 alpine ski team beginning in the 2022-2023 school year. The coaching position is a full-time, 10-month faculty position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in alpine skiing, possess a passion and commitment to the development of student/athletes, and have a willingness to be a strong member of the Cardigan community. The position works closely with our Director of Athletics and reports to the Dean of Faculty. 

Specific Responsibilities

The Head U16 Alpine Ski Coach will:

  • Develop and implement daily, weekly, and seasonal training progressions with the Alpine Program Director
  • Participate in summer ski camp programming
  • Conduct preseason dryland sessions • Develop seasonal race schedule with Alpine Program Director
  • Manage athlete’s equipment throughout the season
  • Coach throughout the winter season, including over school breaks
  • Keep close communications with parents of U16 skiers
  • Coach another sport in the Fall and Spring
  • Serve as an advisor and dorm parent to students

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous coaching/teaching experience. Experience in a middle school environment preferred, but not required
  • Interest in and demonstrated skill in working with adolescent boys
  • A shared commitment to an inclusive community, and respect for differences
  • Ability to make contributions to School life across multiple facets of our program
  • Willingness to embrace and engage in the active lifestyle of an independent boarding school
