Work Description
Position: Weekend Freestyle, Freeski and Snowboard Coaches Roles available for coaches or former athletes with expertise in any of the following areas: Moguls A or B level; Freeski including Slopestyle, Big Air or Halfpipe; Snowboard including Park and Pipe, or Alpine Snowboarding.
Responsible to: Dan Shuffleton, Freeski, Freestyle and Snowboard (FFS) Program Director
General: As a member of the BBTS Coaching Staff, live by and follow the standards outlined in the WVBBTS Staff Handbook. As a member of the coaching staff, play an important role in guiding a dynamic FFS program to develop young athletes. As a Coach at WVBBTS work as a team player for the whole program, and work closely together with all other groups.
Responsibilities
- Organize a season-long calendar for assigned Freeski, Freestyle or Snowboard athletes in line with the WVBBTS Program Philosophy
- Plan and deliver world-class programming, including primarily on-snow, but also occasional off-snow training, including gymnastic and air training on trampolines, AirBag or indoors.
- Inform athletes, parents, and colleagues at WVBBTS about the FFS program.
- Document goal settings, evaluations, training and video for all FFS athletes.
- Budget and account for all projects, trips, and travel done by the group.
Leadership
- Plan and lead the ski training that has been presented and planned.
- Communicate, as appropriate or as requested, with families, athletes, and club leadership
Scope
- Weekend coaches are employed weekends from mid-November through the end of March, during school vacation weeks, and are paid hourly
- WVBBTS FFS coaches are provided opportunities for additional employment in the summer and fall coaching AirBag camps and training both midweek and on weekends. WVBBTS also supports professional development and coaches education whenever possible.
