Take a look at the data. We present the average age and number of women from each nation represented in the top 60 on the FIS World Cup Start list.
Although it may be a statistical anomaly, the average age in all four events when considering the last three seasons rose to its highest age during this past winter. Olympic influence or a trend, we will find out in the next few years.
Note that the average age of athletes in the top 60 WCSL in speed events is slightly higher than in technical events.
This year the two youngest to win FIS Alpine World Cups were a couple of 24-year-olds: Andreja Slokar won two while Katharina Liensberger won one.
Tessa Worley, who won two FIS World Cups and a GS title was the oldest winner at 32 years old.
However, the average age of the women FIS Alpine World Cup winners this year was almost 29.
