SR Staff Report
Notably absent from the Croatian squad is Elias Kolega. The now-retired slalom specialist’s career included 10 World Cup top 30 finishes, two World Championships, and an Olympic appearance. The older Kolega decided to retire as a competitor due to an inline skating injury he experienced in the summer of 2020. Originally planning on returning to competition during the 2021/22 season the injury wasn’t healing to the level required to compete in the World Cup.
The other significant change is that Croatian standout Filip Zubcic will no longer be working with coach Marko Suman and serviceman Robert Horvat. Instead, ski serviceman Kristijan Krasnić will partner with Zubcic. The new coach for Zubcic has yet to be named publicly.
In addition, Croatia welcomes the return of Natko Zrncic-Dim, who retired in 2019 and will take on both coaching and ski service for B-Team member Tvrtko Ljutic.
Croatia squad for winter 2022/23:
Women’s A team: Leana Popovic and Zrinka Ljutic.
Men’s A team: Filip Zubcic, Istok Rodes, Matej Vidovic and Samuel Kolega.
