Sugarloaf mountain has been struck with a series of bad weather and soft snow to cancel yet another NorAm final race for the series. U.S. Ski Team member Allie Resnick was awarded the GS overall after a consistent performance throughout the season.

20-year-old Resnick had a dominating GS circuit, finishing with a silver in five consecutive  NorAm races for the discipline. She edged out Canada’s Britt Richardson for the title with a total of 432 points.

“I am so excited to end the year finally on top of the podium,” said Resnick. “Having a World Cup start next year is huge and I can’t wait to ski hills I’ve watched on TV for years. Although I wish we could have pulled off the race today, the conditions made a fair and safe race not possible.”

Richardson landed on the GS podium three times over the season, including back-to-back wins in Georgian Peaks. Earlier results outside the top ten left her just behind Resnick in the standings with 378 points.

“I’m super happy to take second place in the NorAm overall GS and secure myself a World Cup spot for next year,” said Richardson. “There were a lot of competitive races this season, it was a battle every race.”

The current overall leader Ava Sunshine Jemison took third in the GS standings. The U.S. Ski Team rookie has outperformed her entire season, securing a silver in the Junior World Championships in super-G and a podium in four disciplines on the NorAm circuit.

“I’m happy to take third in the NorAm GS standings,” said Jemison. “For me, this season has been about building consistency with my racing and I feel like I was able to figure that out.”

If all goes to plan, the men and women will compete in the final NorAm race in slalom on Monday.
