It was a Planica-Sunday for the history books that the 20000 fans at the HS 240 Letalnica-hill could experience. The final day of the 2021/22 Ski Jumping season had everything: Bright sunshine, oustanding performances with flights over 240 m and big emotions. The Ski Jumping family lived up to its name on this Sunday.
First, Ski Flying World Champion and Olympic Champion Marius Lindvik took the win today: “It’s incredible to end this great season with a win. The fans here are amazing and the atmosphere is unique, thanks to everyone who came here today”, said Lindvik, for whom this was the eighth win in the World Cup, the fifth this season. Lindvik is only the third Norwegian to win an individual competition in Planica.
Japan’s Yukiya Sato came in second in today’s competition. Sato, who hasn’t been on the podium so far this season, said: “This second place comes as a huge surprise to me, I’m very happy that I made it to the podium in the final competition of the season.”
