The Ski Jumping team of Slovenia claimed the expected win in Saturday’s team competition at the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica (SLO). Ziga Jelar, Peter Prevc, Timi Zajc, and Anze Lanisek won on the HS 240 Letalnica-hill ahead of the teams of Norway and Austria in front of 20000 enthusiastic fans. Poland and Germany came in fourth and fifth.
Slovenia’s had a clear lead in the end, but they had to fight a lot harder than everyone had expected: The reason for that was, first and foremost, the outstanding performance of Marius Lindvik. Lindvik, the reigning Ski Flying World Champion showed two amazing flights and scored 435.2 points, by far the most in this competition. But in the end, the Slovenian team was just too strong.
“It was very emotional today, especially, when everyone expects you to win. I’m very happy that we managed to do this in front of such a nice crowd and in this kind of weather”, said Slovenian head coach Robert Hrgota.
