In the fight for the overall World Cup title, Ryoyu Kobayashi (6th) could extend his lead over Karl Geiger (9th). Before the final two competitions, Kobayashi is now 66 points ahead of Geiger, who narrowly qualified for today’s competition in 37th in the qualification. “Today was a tough day, I was really nervous after the qualification. It didn’t go well for me today, I was hoping for more”, Karl Geiger said.
Markus Eisenbichler tied for ninth with Geiger, Severin Freund was 13th.

Finland’s Eetu Nousiainen could once again show a very good performance. After his 15th place on Saturday, he came in seventh today, after the first round he was even second. This is a career-best result for the 24-year-old and a reward for the hard work of the Finnish team this winter.
After his crash yesterday, Daniel Huber finished on the strong 14th place today.

Slovenia’s Domen Prevc set a new hill record in the qualification. The youngest of the three Prevc brothers landed at 242.5 m and improved the old record of 238.5 m held by Daniel Andre Tande. Prevc benefited from his low flight curve and slight headwind, he had no problems standing this jump and thinks that an even longer flight would be possible. “There’s more possible down there”, he said smiling after his record jump.

The final World Cup competitions of the 2021/22 season will be held in Planica (SLO) next weekend. Three competitions (two individual competitions on Friday and Sunday and a team event on Saturday) will take place on the HS 240 Letalnica hill. The fight for the overall title will be decided on the weekend in Planica.
