Men’s slalom in Grandvalira (AND)

The first day of competition began on the Avet de Soldeu slope, with the men’s slalom. The protagonist of the day was the Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen, who takes today’s victory and managed to win the European Cup (EC) overall title in slalom, after becoming double World Junior Champion in slalom and giant slalom last week in Panorama (CAN). Alexander led the race by -1.51sec and a final time of 1:45.11.
Noel Von Gruenigen (SUI), who was leading the EC ranking until the very last race, was unable to complete the first leg and skied out in the very last section. This fact has put him in 2nd place in the slalom EC overall.
The second classified of the slalom race in Andorra has been the Spanish Joaquim Salarich, with a time of 1:46.62, which is his best result in this year’s European Cup, finishing in 7th position overall. The podium of the race was completed by the Austrian Joshua Sturm in third, who achieved a time of 1:46.63.
