The Falun candidacy for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships named Charlotte Kalla and Frida Westman as ambassadors for Falun 2027.
“We are very happy to have Charlotte and Frida as ambassadors for Falun 2027. They are both two amazing athletes, important role models and they represent everything that Falun 2027 candidacy stands form” said Sara Tigerström Monfelt, candidate manager Falun 2027.
Falun has a bid for FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2027 and the decision will be announced by FIS in May. Now the two athletes Charlotte Kalla, Cross-Country, and Frida Westman, Ski Jumping, stand behind the candidacy.
Charlotte Kalla was ambassador already for the 2015 bid and she had an important role in the team representing Falun before the decision was made by FIS back then. Everyone in Falun remember the World Ski Championships 2015 when Charlotte won four medals with the gold on 10 km as highlight.
“It is always fantastic to race in Falun,” said Kalla, who with her nine Olympic medals is the best Swedish Olympic athletes of all time.
“Charlotte is one of our greatest Cross-Country skiers ever and she has a special place here in Falun. With all her fantastic results and impressive races, her fighting spirit and her personality she is a great inspiration for many,” said Ulrica Back Eriksson, candidate manager Falun 2027.
The 21-year-old Ski Jumper Frida Westman has made a big impression in her debut World Cup season with two 4th places as top results. She was also the first Swedish female Ski Jumper at the Olympics where she ended up in 16th position.
“It would be really cool and fun to have a World Championships on home ground to look forward to. I also hope the interest for Ski Jumping in Sweden will continue to increase until then,” said Westman.
Frida was jumping in Falun at Lugnet during the FIS Cup in the beginning of the season.
“Frida is already an amazing role model for Swedish Ski Jumping and it is fantastic to be able to add a young female Swedish Ski Jumper in the Falun 2027 team,” concluded Tigerström Monfelt.
