After a strong second day, Timi Zajc could move up to second and finish ahead of Austrian Stefan Kraft. Zajc proved his outstanding Ski Flying skills with 243.5 m and 235.5 m. “Today was really my day. I was able to show long fights and set a new personal best as well. My two jumps in the competition were great and now I’m really surprised about the result”, said Zajc, whose 243.5 m were the longest jump of the day.
Top favorite Stefan Kraft came in third. “Unfortunately the last jump was not that good anymore, I didn’t risk enough. I feel like somehow I wasn’t as ready today as on the first day. Now I can be disappointed for a short while, but winning a medal after such a difficult year is great. All in all my four jumps were okay”, he said.
With Peter Prevc, Anze Lanisek, and Domen Prevc, Slovenian jumpers also came in fourth, fifth, sixth. This makes them the top contender for Sunday’s team competition in Vikersund. The Slovenians are oustanding ski flyers.
Michael Hayboeck finished seventh, defending champion Karl Geiger was eighth.
The team competition at the Ski Flying World Championships will start on Sunday at 4:30 pm CET.
