Jesse Hunt is stepping down from his role as US Ski & Snowboard Alpine Director. The exact timeline for his departure is not clear at this time, but the position of Alpine Director has been posted to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard job board, as well as the position of chief of sport.
“U.S. Ski & Snowboard is recruiting for the position of Alpine Director. The Alpine Director is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy and culture from development to elite to take USSS to the next level of success during this next cycle and beyond. This will be done by working to provide the teams and programs at all levels with the appropriate structure and resources necessary for success at the highest level, in a sustainable way,” the job posting reads.
The news comes on the heels of a historically bad Olympic Winter Games in terms of Alpine performance, with the team securing only a single medal, its worst outing since 1988.
Hunt has been in the position since 2018. His four-year run in the job coincides with the last Olympic cycle and concludes his second tenure in the role. Hunt previously stepped down from the job in 2009 after 16 years with the organization. In the nine-year interim, Hunt served as program director and general manager for Park City Ski & Snowboard.
A U.S. Ski & Snowboard representative was not immediately available to offer comment.
