Last week the Austrian Ski Association announced their Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski squads for the 2020/21 World Cup season, with an impressive mix of veterans – including Olympic medallists, world champions and crystal globe winners – as well as up-and-comers ready to hit the slopes once we return to competition action next winter.
Foremost amongst the snowboard team is certainly Anna Gasser, as the 29-year-old was the season’s top rider on both the slopestyle and Park & Pipe overall final rankings winning both crystal globes by the end of 2020/21 campaign.
On the men’s side it’s snowboard cross star Alessandro Haemmerle leading the way, after the 27-year-old wrapped up his third-straight crystal globe winning season in 2020/21 with a gutsy victory at the season-ender in Veysonnaz.
Perhaps strongest amongst all the Austrian snowboard squads is the alpine team, which boast the likes of five-time world champion Benny Karl, as well as Andreas Prommegger, Julia Dujmovits and Claudia Riegler amongst its ranks.
