SR Staff Report
This week, just days before her knee surgery, Breezy Johnson checked in with the American Downhillers to talk about her injury, recovery and all things speedy on the World Cup downhill circuit.
Tune in if you want to know who the crew idolized while they were growing up. You may or may not be surprised by who Breezy’s idols were. Hint: One had a signature victory finish called the “whale slide.”
Breezy recently crashed and injured her knee. She provides updates, including her recovery plan so that she will bounce back stronger – both mentally and physically.
As a strong competitor on the World Cup circuit, Breezy is bound to have some rivalries. She breaks down her relationship with Sofia Goggia, compares their skiing styles and discusses the mutual respect they have for each other. Breezy also shares what team leaders, including Vonn, Cook, Ross and McKennis, taught her when she was still rising the ranks as a rookie and how she supports the younger athletes on the team now.
What does Breezy need to do to get on top of the podium when she returns? For starters, she states that she needs to generate more speed in places, take care of the little things, and train more super G.
Finally, Breezy gives her own predictions on who will ski away with the gold, silver and bronze in the Beijing downhill.
