Day two in Klingenthal (GER) and Johannes Lamparter secured another victory for Austria.

In minus degrees and foggy conditions, yesterday’s winner already won the Ski Jumping round on the Vogtland Arena HS140 with a jump on 143 meters (142.3 pts).
Only 0.1 points behind, placed his Austrian teammate Franz-Josef Rehrl, who showed the furthest jump of the day with incredible 147 meters. 142.2 points made him go into the cross-country race at the same time as Lamparter.

Rank 3 after jumping went to Kristjan Ilves from Estonia, who showed another strong performance on the hill, landing at 142 meters (141.2 pts) and therefore went into the 10 km course only 4 seconds behind the Austrians.

The gap to the 4th place, taken by hill record holder Ryota Yamamoto (133.5 m, 137 pts) from Japan, is bit bigger with 21 seconds.

A total of 8 athletes went start into the race within the first minute, including strong skiers Joergen Graabak (+41 sec) from Norway and Japanese Akito Watabe (+53 sec).

Ilves caught up to the Austrian leaders already after 1 km, so the trio completed the race together.
The pursuers, Joergen Graabak and Espen Andersen caught Yamamoto quickly and shortened the gap to the leaders to 26.6 seconds after 5 km.
However, the leaders made no attempt to slow down and kept their pursuers at bay. Despite the greatest efforts, the gap to Lamparter, who was driving the leading group, was still 18.8 seconds after 8 km.

On the last climb, the Austrian launched a final attack and left his two pursuers behind. He crossed the finish line 8.4 seconds ahead of Ilves, who relegated Rehrl (+8.7 seconds) to third place in an exciting sprint to the finish.

With his win, Lamparter takes the lead ahead of Jarl Magnus Riiber in the overall World Cup ranking and therefore the yellow bib.
