Local hero Jan Hoerl was extremely happy about his third place. “It is a special moment for me to be on the podium in a home competition. I had two good jumps today, I’m speechless and really happy. I hope that tomorrow will be just as good as today, we are very motivated for the team competition”, said the Bischofshofen-native.
4-Hills champion Ryoyu Kobayashi came in fourth today, Philipp Aschenwald, who was in the lead after the first round, finished fifth, followed by his teammate Daniel Huber, who claimed his maiden World Cup win on this hill just two days ago and could once again show a convincing performance today.
Piotr Zyla was the best Pole in seventh, Karl Geiger was eighth and has now scored a total of 817 points in the overall World Cup, where he is 74 points behind the leader Ryoyu Kobayashi. “It was a difficult competition with quite a strong tailwind. The jumps were okay, and all in all, it was a good competition for me”, Geiger said.
Markus Eisenbichler was disqualified in the final round because his suit did not meet the rules, the same fate was shared by Poland’s Pawel Wasek in the first round.
The team competition in Bischofshofen starts on Sunday at 4 pm CET.
