The third place today went to Slovenia’s Timi Zajc. The 21-year-old showed a top performance and was in the lead after the first round, but in the final, he lost some ground compared to Geiger and Kobayashi despite another good jump.

Local hero Killian Peier, who is getting better and better after his long break due to a knee injury, came in fourth and is now one of the top contenders for the podium in the second competition in Engelberg on Sunday. Jan Hoerl was the best Austrian today in fifth.

The level of the competition was extremely high, and so top athletes who showed some really good jumps had to be satisfied with Top 10 results, like Kamil Stoch (6th), Halvor Egner Granerud (7th), Anze Lanisek (8th), Stefan Kraft (9th) and Marius Lindvik (10th).

Evgeniy Klimov and Danil Sadreev scored points for Russia today in 14th and 18th, Stephan Leyhe and Markus Eisenbichler tied for 27th, Andreas Wellinger failed to make the cut for the final round in 43rd.

The second competition in Engelberg starts on Sunday at 4 pm CET.
