Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) wins for the fifth time out of five slalom races held on the East Coast-Killington. A record on this slope accompanied by a 32-year-old record for most World Cup wins in a single discipline set by Ingemar Stenmark.
In the first run, a few imperfections cost the American star 20 hundredths on Petra Vlhova (SVK), who was in the lead during the first, while in the second one she attacked from start to finish with a small mistake that could have cost her dearly but cost her main rival more. The Slovakian star finished in second place but continues to hold the first position in the slalom ranking.
Behind the two slalom queens is the real warrior of the day, Swiss Wendy Holdener, who has only a few days of skiing behind her due to a broken wrist she suffered during preparation.
Shiffrin moved 20 points ahead of Vlhova at the top of the overall World Cup standings.
The women’s World Cup now moves on to Lake Louise to start with speed disciplines.
